Pharmacy Services
By law, we are required to have a current patient-client-doctor relationship in order to approve and/or prescribe prescription medication. This means that your pet has to have been seen by Dr. McKisson within the calendar year to obtain prescription medication.
Most flea and tick preventions are prescription medications
All heartworm preventions are prescription medications
Furthermore, some medications require annual, bi-annual, or monthly blood work to make sure that we are using the correct dosage and that we are protecting the affected organs.
We have an in-house pharmacy to fill most medication needs for your pet, but we also encourage you to look at trusted online pet pharmacies if that will save you time and money.
We can call in prescriptions to your preferred pharmacy or provide a physical prescription for you to bring there yourself.
If you choose an online pet pharmacy, please make sure it is a trusted one. Once verified, you just need to input your information, your pet’s information, and our office information in order for the prescription to be sent to us for approval.
